3 Idiots star praises Nanban

Sharman Joshi, who had acted in 3 Idiots, wished the Nanban team all success. The star said that he happened to watch the special screening of Nanban recently and was thoroughly pleased with the way director Shankar had handled the script. Sharman also had some good words for Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth, who had acted in Nanban. It may be mentioned here that Nanban is a remake of the Hindi film 3 Idiots which is based on the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. The film opened to packed houses this morning and movie buffs are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the reviews. 

Arya, Lingusamy at Vettai special show

Vettai special show was screened exclusively for the cast and crew of the film yesterday at Prasad Labs, Chennai. Director Lingusamy, Arya and others made it to this screening and were seen beaming with pride about their product. The premier show of Vettai is to be held tomorrow and the entire cast and crew, along with their families, will be attending this event. Amala Paul, one of Vettai’s leading ladies, said that she is looking forward to attend this premiere show with family and friends. Vettai is slated for release on January 14th

Nanban tickets sold out like hot cakes

As expected, the tickets for Nanban sold out like hot cakes within minutes the advance bookings opened. Tickets for the five days have been booked completely in almost all theatres, say industry sources. At the Mayajaal, special shows have been added to meet the customer demands, we are told. Nanban will be the first Tamil film to be screened at Mayajaal with the highest number of shows in a single day, so far, say sources.

Four trailers with Vettai

  The trailers of Vazhakku Enn 18/9, Masala Cafe, Aravaan, and Dhoni will release along with Vettai. UTV’s CEO G Dhananjayan has said that it has been agreed to screen the four trailers during the screening of Vettai. Expectations on Vettai are very high because it has been directed by Lingusamy and stars Arya and Madhavan in the lead roles. Sameera and Amala Paul play the lead girls in this flick which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.






Is Katrina Kaif Rajini's heroine?

In an exciting development, Soundarya Ashwin has said that they have offered Katrina Kaif the female lead in Kochadaiyaan. Katrina is one of the reigning Queens in Bollywood and she is also considered a lucky mascot. Her sizzling performances in Sheila Ki Jawani and the recent Chikni Chameli from Agneepath have cemented her reputation for pure star power. Katrina is thrilled with the opportunity to work with Rajinikanth. However, she is very busy and has already committed to many Hindi films. The actress is doing everything possible to somehow accomodate Kochadaiyaan we hear.

Nanban’s running time

Nanban’s running time is 3 hours and 10 minutes, say sources. This means, Shankar has included a lot more scenes than it was in the original version 3 Idiots which had a running time of 164 minutes. Director Shankar has done a thorough research on the book Five Point Someone, penned by Chetan Bhagat. 3 Idiots is inspired from this book and so is Nanban. The film stars Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth, Ileana and others. It will hit the screens on January 12th as a Pongal treat for all movie buffs.


Aascar Film’s gets both Kamal and Dhanush!

Producer Aascar Ravichandran is planning two ventures at a time. While one film will have Kamal Haasan playing the lead role, the other will have Dhanush onboard. Both these films will be on different platforms that suit the stars’ style of acting. Kamal Haasan is expected to begin work on this project very soon. However, Dhanush’s project may take some time as he has a couple of films that needs his attention first. The directors and other cast and crew for both these projects are yet to be finalized. 


History repeats itself in Mani's film

Mani Ratnam's next film has been entitled Kadal and will feature, Karthik's son Gautham and Radha's younger daughter, Thulasi. It will be remembered by Tamil cinema fans that Karthik and Radha made their debut with Bharathiraja's beloved film, Alaigal Oyvadillai and now their children will be making their entry into films together. Mani also considered Akshara Haasan and Parthipen's daughter, Keerthana who worked with Mani in Kannathil Muthamital. But finally it has been confirmed that Thulasi will be Mani's heroine. Arjun has also been roped in for this film.

 Hari leaves Suriya and moves to Vishal

 Singam 2, the hugely awaited sequel to Singam with the same Suriya and Hari team has been dropped. Apparently, some difficulties cropped up and the project was scrapped. Suriya and Hari have agreed to work together in future if something suitable comes along. In the meantime, Hari has decided to go ahead and make a film with Vishal. The script has been finalized and Hari is anxious to get started with his Sandakozhi hero.



Dhanush guarantees a super duper script from Selva

Dhanush and director Selvaraghavan are basking in glory over the success of Mayakkam Enna and its successful run at the theatres for 50 days and still counting. Busy with 3, directed by his wife Aishwarya, at the moment, the national award winner says that he will do one more film with his brother and director Selvaraghavan this year. He also promises a super-duper script from his brother. Selva and Dhanush have churned out several hits in the past and we can expect one more from them

Reacting to rumors about Dhanush and Shruti Haasan dating, Aishwarya Dhanush has said in a social networking site that it is just baseless rumor. The director of 3 and daughter of Rajinikanth, says that she and Dhanush are perfectly fine as a couple and Shruti Haasan is a good friend. Aishwarya wondered where such news surfaced from and puts them down as ridiculous rumors. 3’s dubbing process has been completed and its music director Anirudh is now working on the background score. The film is expected to release next month.






The Businessman in Suirya/Karthi's court?

Mahesh Babu’s The Businessman is all set for Pongal release and the distribution and remake rights have been bought by Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green. The film is directed by Puri Jagannath and it has Kajal Agarwal playing the lead lady. It may be noted that Studio Green is the production house owned by a close relative of actors Suriya and Karthi and with the remake rights in place we can see either of them casting in The Businessman remake.

Vikram and Sneha in Vanakkam Vazhavaikkum Chennai

A promo song for Marina that begins with the lyrics ‘Vanakkam Vazhavaikkum Chennai’ has been penned by Na Muthukumar. Girish has scored the music for this song. Speaking about this song, director Pandiraj said that he felt the need for a promo song and wanted it to tell the tale of the city. Na Muthukumar came out with the lyrics and Girish scored the music for it, he added. Pandiraj said that since it is a promo song, he wanted some well-known faces to feature in it and Vikram Sneha, Prakash Raj, Ameer and Sasi Kumar consented to it. The song has been filmed with these stars and directors and will surely reach the target audiences, says Pandiraj.
Asin’s new role

Asin has decided to give television a try, say sources. The actress will reportedly appear in a television show titled Superstar Santa. The program is to be telecast on UTV. The actress has a couple of Hindi projects on hands for now and hopes television will open new avenues for her. Asin, however, has made it clear that she is not hosting the show as stated by the media. The actress pointed out that she will be appearing in one of the episodes. Asin entered the Tamil film industry with M Kumaran S/o Mahalakshmi and reached the top slot with several smash hits. She shifted base in Bollywood after director AR Murugadoss offered her the role in the Hindi version of Ghajini. Her decision to enter the small screen has surprised many of her fans but Asin says that it will help her widen her fan base.

Marina in Marina!

The audio launch for Pasanga Pandiraj directed Marina starring Siva Karthikeyan and Oviya is happening today at Marina beach. The leading man has many fans as a result of his successful stints on the small screen and with promising films like 3 and Ezhil's next in his kitty he is all set to storm the big screen. Recently, Siva Karthikeyan was present at the audio launch of 3 and had the audience in splits with his witty repartee and wickedly clever mimicry act. A lot is expected from Marina as it has National Award winning director Pandiraj at the helm.

Actress back in Kollywood

We will get to see pretty actress Padma Priya back in a Tamil film soon. Yes, the buzz is that the actress has been roped in by Ram,who directed Kattradhu Tamizh with Jiiva in the lead, for Thangameengal . The movie is produced by Gautham Vasudev Menon.

The actress who is now busy with Malayalam films has agreed to cast in the film for an important role. The movie has Ram playing the protagonist.
